Viking Discovery Program is excited to team up with the Woods Tennis Center to bring tennis lessons to students in the Program! Members of the tennis cernter will be at our Hamlow Elementary & Eagle Elementary sites on the following non-school days: March 4, 10, 11, 25 & 28 of 2016. Students will be split into age groups of K-2 and 3-5 for a one-hour lesson in the gym, or outside if the weather allows. During these lessons, students will be learning the basics of the game, warming up, and teaming up to learn the basic skills needed to play tennis. Woods Tennis Center will be providing all the needed equipment to participate. The Viking Discovery Program has made this available to all enrolled students, free of charge.
Quote from Tennis Coach Zimmerman: "Tennis isn't just a sport for the privileged. No sport challenges the mind and body quite like tennis, or can be enjoyed for as long. This March we'll cover basic strokes and movement, as well as strategy and tactics. We hope to inspire the next generation of high school and collegiate athletes to give tennis a shot."
