Board Nominations
The School District 145 Foundation for Education welcomes nominations from individuals who are passionate about strengthening educational opportunities for students and supporting the long-term success of School District 145. Whether you are interested in serving yourself or would like to nominate someone else, we encourage you to submit a nomination for consideration.
Our Board
The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors responsible for providing strategic leadership, financial oversight, and long-term stewardship of the organization. Board members work collaboratively to advance the Foundation's mission through philanthropy, sound governance, community engagement, and thoughtful decision-making.
Board service is both an honor and a responsibility. Directors are expected to prepare for and actively participate in meetings, serve as ambassadors for the Foundation, support fundraising and community engagement efforts, uphold the highest ethical standards, and always act in the best interests of the Foundation and the students, educators, and communities we serve.
Directors are elected to three-year terms and may be considered for additional terms in accordance with the Foundation's Bylaws.
A Skills-based, Inclusive Team
Our goal is to build a Board that reflects the strengths, experiences, and perspectives of the communities served by School District 145.
When evaluating nominations, we consider many factors, including professional expertise, leadership experience, community involvement, geographic representation, and demographic diversity. We collect demographic information solely to help us identify opportunities to strengthen the Board and ensure we are filling open positions in a manner that best advances our mission.
You do not need to know someone currently serving on the Board to be considered.
Board appointments are based on the needs of the Foundation and the qualifications, experiences, and perspectives each nominee brings—not on personal relationships or informal networks. We believe the strongest nonprofit organizations welcome talented individuals from throughout the community and provide an open, transparent pathway for service.
There Are Many Ways to Serve
Serving as a member of the Board of Directors is just one way to become involved with the Foundation.
Many choose to serve as Community Members on one of our standing committees. Community Members contribute their expertise by serving on a specific committee and attend only those committee meetings and related activities ; they are not required to participate in full Board meetings.
We also rely on Mission Volunteers throughout the year to support Foundation programs, fundraising activities, and special projects. Whether you have a few hours to volunteer or are interested in a long-term leadership role, there is a place for you to make a meaningful impact.

Please Note: Submission of a nomination does not guarantee appointment to the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee reviews nominations throughout the year and recommends candidates based on current Board needs, desired skills and experiences, and the Foundation's commitment to strong nonprofit governance.
